Daraz.com.bd is introducing “FATAFATI Friday” for the first time in Bangladesh
Daraz.com.bd recently announced that they are bringing the concept of "Black Friday" for the first time ever in the history of Bangladesh eCommerce. They are calling it, “FAFAFATI Friday”. Together with the Telco giant Robi, they are introducing the biggest sale of the year “FATAFATI Friday on 27th November, 2015.
They have a massive plan regarding this. On that day popular brands products will be available in discounted price. These deals will only be available online.
Daraz.com.bd is a Rocket Internet Venture Company. In back 2014, Daraz started their journey with only 5 people and now they have a team of more than 150+ people. And all of their employes are young and energetic, and their average age is around 25 years. Daraz is focusing on 3 (three) major things. They are:
- 100% authentic and brand new products.
- 7 days return policy
- Delivery at your doorstep.
300+ eCommerce shopping websites and 3,000 Facebook pages are doing regular online shopping business in Bangladesh. After beating them all, Daraz is selling more than 300 products per day. Last month (October) they received more than 2M hits on their website. 60% of their users are from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh and 15% each for Chittagong and Sylhet. Rest 10% is coming from Barishal, Rajshahi, Khulna, Rangpur Division together. They have their own delivery service inside Dhaka. Cash on Delivery (COD) is the first choice. Beside this POS machine is also available in the customer's doorstep. They strictly follow their Terms & Conditions. Their suppliers are top rated and mostly big Brands only. But they also promote up and coming brands and sellers. According to Socialbakers, because of their “Fan Following Base” on Facebook, Daraz is one of the top three Bangladeshi eCommerce Shopping Websites.
“Black Friday is a concept that comes from the West. It's one of the biggest salesevent in the US alone. Last year, on one day, 40 billion dollars revenue was gathered in the US throuh online sales alone. We don't have any sales event like that here. That's when we thought let's bring that event to Bangladesh and introduce this amazing event to shoppers around the country. We intend to make this the biggest e-commerce sales event in the country,” said Dr Jonathan Doerr, Co-CEO of Daraz Asia. “Most people think Black Friday is an event that focuses on electronics only, but many fashion brands play a substantial role in Black Friday sales. Our fashion team is currently working very very hard to get huge discounts from fashion brands so there's definitely a lot for people to look out for,” he added.
For their upcoming event, FAFAFATI Friday, they have locked in top brands like Samsung, Symphony, LG, Microsoft, SHARP, HP,Le Reve, wood & pecker, Doors, Dorjibari and other top brands, securing deals and discounts that go up to 80%. Usually considered to be a favored website for tech geeks looking for discounts on laptops, TVs and phones, their FAFAFATI Friday sale will have a lot more than just large discounts on electronics.
Currently local fashion brands like Bata, Apex, Noir, Texmart, Dorjibari, Doors, O2 among others are now available in Daraz. Interestingly, they also have a range of international brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Dockers, Bershka, Wrangler and even Calvin Klein. They also have an impressive spread of brands for make-up aficionados: Mac, MUA, The Body Shop and Tilat Khayer are just a few brands part of the make-up brigade.
While electronics and fashion items take the lead when it comes to sales, home appliances, sports and fitness accessories and even children's toys are part of the large spread of goods Daraz has on offer.
I am eagerly waiting to see the impact of this concept in Bangladesh. Cause it is a new thing in here. Black Friday, Cyber Monday is a regular thing in US, Eastern Asia and European countries. Few days ago Alibaba participated in “Single Day” event and in a Single day, they sold products worth of $14.3B USD. So we in Bangladesh really interested to see the impact of a new thing like “FATAFATI Friday”. Let’s see, is this “Black Friday” can make a change in the future of Daraz in Bangladesh for online shopping?
