Use of Social Media Made Citizen Journalism Easier

Social Media now a days a big thing. It is true that, we can not pass a single day without this social media thing now a days. 

There are several parts of Social Media. They are:

1. Collaborative Projects
2. Blogs and Micro-blogs
3. Content Communities

4. Social Networking Sites

5. Virtual Game Worlds

6. Virtual Social Worlds

But now a days as a Social Media we know Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Whatsapp, Viber, Skype, Pinterest etc. only. These are just Social Networking Sites. 

Basically Citizen Journalism is, "The collection, dissemination, and analysis of news and information by the general public, especially by means of the Internet." In back Citizen Journalism was neglected because of lack of publishing methods. But now a days the scenario is totally changed.

Now a days Citizen Journalists are providing more accurate information than a regular journalists through Social Media. Even they are faster than anything else. They taking the photo of that incident, gives a caption and shares with the social media community and with in few minutes this things goes viral.

Social Media Played a vital roll during the "Arab Spring"! Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Yemen and other countries got a huge support from Social Media's like Facebook and Twitter. Look at the time during Nepal Earthquake! Most of the update came through Social Media. Facebook introduced a new option named "Facebook Safety Check" for this disaster area. In every of this cases, people tried to keep them up to date by looking at Social Media pages and in their news feeds even not in their TV and popular news blogs or websites. This all were good things. 

But the bad part is Wrong Information. Some people started playing on Social Media and they started spreading scam news. Even most of the case level of hoaxes were more than level of reality. Some contents are totally by photo editing and because of this the meaning of those photos are also changed. And most of the people are sharing this by not knowing what they are actually sharing. This is all because of crowd sourcing. 

So now its easier to say that Social Media made the Citizen Journalism thing easier. Now you better find out that, its good or bad for our regular human life?
