Facebook officials in Dhaka: And 3 expectations of Bangladesh Government

Last day two (2) Facebook official visited Bangladesh and had a meeting with Bangladesh ICT Ministry. They came from Facebook India office after receiving an invitation from Bangladeshi Minister Tarana Halim. Bangladesh ICT Ministry asked for 3 (three) things. And they are - The want a Facebook admin Office in Bangladesh, Filtering and Moderation option, Dual Information sharing related deal. 

As a regular internet user I must say this is against our cyber independence. 

First thing, if Facebook set up an admin office in Bangladesh than it will be really good for us. We can verify real businesses and pages easily. But my question is why Facebook will start their office in Bangladesh? Where we are suffering problem with Internet speed. 

Why you are comparing Bangladesh with India that you guys setted up an office in India and now come to Bangladesh? How much dedicated Indian Government you know? They are buying Internet for their country from us. And we are selling our Internet to them but our Internet speed is below to our expectation! They combinedly announced “Digital India” and what we did? We blocked Facebook in Bangladesh. And I guess when Facebook will get to know that none of our Government officials are officially from IT background (ICT Ministry) they will be in darkness about the future of free internet in Bangladesh. 

And about the second point, post and content filtering and moderation will kill our Independence over Facebook. There will be no difference between 1971 and 2015+ in future. In other countries people protest on the road for their rights. But in Bangladesh it’s not possible because you can not say bit against government in here. You can not right a single thing about them on Facebook. 

Now about the third point expectation of Govt. from Facebook, Dual Information sharing related deal. Nothing to say about this. Privacy on Facebook was a good thing but when this privacy will be opened to govt. than there is no reasons will be available to use this social media’s. Delete, disable, collecting info and IP will be there regular requirement fro Facebook. Data and info thefting from Facebook will down it’s community standard rules so the popularity will be ruined.. 

We are now part of Govt. experiment and we are victim. They even can not measure our total loss in this 18 days since 18th November, 2015. Facebook was a great source of volunteer blood collectors and donors and providers different issues and patience. Now it’s really not possible to find a blood donors online. Online shopping lost their 50%-60% orders. Educational pages stopped their activities. Students of Rural and Urban areas are affected for this badly. There is a lot more things to look at.

There is no one to see this all. Government said that it was a nice conversation with them. But it was nice for them, what i waiting for us?
